About Auburn

Auburn puts you about fifteen miles from Carroll, Lake City and Lake View alike, so you can work in any of the three. You should know there has been no school in town since 1987. Your children would go to Sac City for elementary and Lake View after that. If that trade suits you, call us and we'll watch Auburn for you.

Auburn was platted in 1888 on the Chicago and North Western line linking Sac City, Wall Lake, Odebolt, Lake View, Early and Schaller. It was named after Auburn, New York. Its best known native is Roy Reiman. He grew up on a farm nearby and graduated from Auburn High School in 1952. He went on to found the publishing company behind Taste of Home, Country Woman and Birds & Blooms, in Wisconsin. The town's motto is "A Taste of Home". The school closed in 1987 and the building is now a private residence.

Served by the East Sac County Community School District. There has been no school building in Auburn since 1987, with the elementary in Sac City and the junior and senior high in Lake View.
